ENTER RAPTURE

Rapture is designed for Aotearoa’s most slinky, seductive, dynamic, and sensual pole dancers.

We want to showcase competitors based on their performance skills, with a particular focus on audience engagement and dance capabilities. Competitors will be judged based on how well rounded the performance is, rather than the level or difficulty of tricks.

Competitors do not need to be capable of high level pole tricks to be considered professional. Likewise, competitors capable of high level pole tricks may not necessarily qualify as professional. This is because, in line with our judging criteria, high-level tricks are not required for a beautiful, engaging, well-rounded performance. Our levels are instead based on the current performance and professional experience the competitor has.

Anyone is welcome to enter, there are no prerequisites!

CATEGORIES

Indication only - we will assess your entry video and be in contact if we believe your performance level is better suited to another category, and under no circumstances will a competitors professional experience be publicly disclosed.  

SEMI PRO

You may meet 1 or multiple criteria to qualify as Semi Pro level

  • Have received payment for pole dancing (performing, stripping or teaching) within the last 3 years, but don't rely on it entirely for a living

  • Have some experience performing in shows or competitions within NZ within the last 3 years

  • Have received a 1st place award at an Amateur level comp (e.g. Dynasty Amateur, NZAPP) within the last 3 years

  • Have received a placing or award that is not 1st place at a Semi Pro level comp (e.g. Rapture Semi Pro) within the last 3 years

PRO

You may meet 1 or multiple criteria to qualify as Pro level

  • Currently, or have within the last 3 years, engaged in pole dancing (performing, stripping or teaching) as your main paid occupation.

  • Have regular experience performing in shows or competitions within NZ or internationally within the last 3 years

  • Have competed in a Pro / Elite level comp (e.g. Dynasty Semi Pro +, NZ Pole Legends, Miss Pole Dance NZ) within the last 3 years

  • Have received a 1st place award at a Semi Pro level comp (e.g. Rapture Semi Pro) within the last 3 years

HOW TO ENTER

Entry into Rapture Pole Competition requires a video link and a $35 entry fee from each competitor. Refunds are not available for drop outs.

All entrants must demonstrate ability to dance in 8 inch heels.

Minimum video length: 2:30

Maximum video length: 4:00

Videos must be filmed in one continuous take within the last 12 months.

CRITERIA

MUSICALITY
How well did the competitor move to the music? Was the music used intentionally?

EXECUTION
How well did the competitor execute movements on a technical level? Judged on execution, not level of difficulty. This includes heel technique.

STAGE
Did the competitor use the stage in a meaningful way? Consider the use of both poles, different levels and movement across the stage.

FLUIDITY
Did the competitor demonstrate fluidity in their movement? Did they move like liquid?

DYNAMIC
Did the competitor demonstrate dynamic or powerful movement?

ENGAGEMENT
How well did the competitor engage with the audience? Did they make strong eye contact and acknowledge the audience in a meaningful way?

SEX APPEAL
Did the competitor have sex appeal? Did they seduce the audience?

THEME
Did the competitor convey a theme or tell a story? How well was this demonstrated through song choice, costume, style, etc?
